Compassion - feeling and showing sympathy and concern for others. This goes completely against what society teaches us to do, which is to put ourselves and our needs above everyone else’s. We are taught to do whatever it takes to meet our selfish desires, even if others are hurt in the process. This is not God’s way! Can you imagine a world where everyone showed compassion to each other as God shows compassion towards us? Most of our problems on this earth today would not exist if we simply showed compassion for each other.

The faithful love of the LORD never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.This is completely against our human nature. We all want to talk and be heard; it is so much harder to listen. Keep in mind that listening and hearing are two completely different things. And when we perceive we have been insulted or wronged, we immediately jump into anger mode. Scripture teaches us to do the exact opposite of what oir nature leads us to do. Just think of the misunderstandings we could have avoided, the apologies we would never have had to issue, the hurt that never would have occurred if we had followed God’s way instead of our own.

You must be holy because I, the LORD, am holy. I have set you apart from all other people to be my very own.Eating and drinking are two of the most basic functions we do as humans. Yet scripture is telling us that in even in performing these functions, we should do them in such a way that God is glorified. So when we are grabbing that last piece of chicken, or making plates to take home before everyone else has eaten, are we glorifying God? When we have that glass of wine at dinner but one glass turns into seven or eight and we are now drunk, is God glorified? Even in other everyday functions, like driving on the road - are we quick to flip those inconsiderate drivers off when they cut us off? Is God glorified by that action? Or do we do below the bare minimum of our jobs at work - come in late and leave early - because our supervisors don’t recognize or appreciate the extra stuff we do anyway? How is God glorified by that? We must remember we represent God in EVERYTHING we do and always behave in a way that brings honor to Him.

So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.This scripture is specifically speaking about the prophet Elijah, but in our times today it is speaking about men and women who bring the truth of the Word of God. This scripture is also talking about the importance of a godly relationship between parents and their children. When the Word of God is delivered in truth and received and acted on by both parents and children, we don’t see the dysfunction and pain that we see when parents and/or children act the in the way the world tells us is normal. There are negative consequences, sometimes fatal consequences, to ungodly parent-children relationships. It does both parents and children (including adult children) well to listen to and follow godly teaching.

For the grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people. And we are instructed to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures. We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteoDo you have a bit if a mean streak that sometimes shows itself, even when you’re trying not to? Do you lie or gossip a little more than you want? Do you still cheat on your taxes or steal from your job? Do you have lust for someone who is not your spouse, or abuse substances or chronically gamble? Do you still harbor hatred towards those who do not look like you or act as you would have them to act? If, after honest reflection, any of the things describe you, there is a remedy. Take these issues to God. He is not like a pill; He doesn’t help us supress these urges. Scripture tells us that He puts a new spirit in us; He completely takes away the desire to do these things.

Let's say it's 5:25 pm and you're driving home after an unusually hard day's work.

You are really tired and frustrated.
All of a sudden your chest pains. They are starting to radiate in the arm and jaw. It feels like being stabbed in the chest and heart. You're only a few miles away from the nearest hospital or home.

Unfortunately you don't know if you can make it..

Maybe you've taken CPR training, but the person running the course hasn't told you how to help yourself.

How do you survive a heart attack when you're alone when it happens? A person who is feeling weak and whose heart is beating hard has only about 10 seconds before losing consciousness.

But you can help yourself by coughing repeatedly and very strongly! Deep breaths before every cough. Coughing should be repeated every second until you arrive at the hospital or until your heart starts to beat normally.

Deep breathing gives oxygen to your lungs and coughing movements boost the heart and blood circulation. Heart pressure also helps to restore a normal heartbeat. Here's how cardiac arrest victims can make it to the hospital for the right treatment

Cardiologists say if someone gets this message and passes it on to 10 people, we can expect to save at least one life.
9. FOR WOMEN: You should know that women have additional and different symptoms. Rarely have crushing chest pain or pain in the arms. Often have indigestion and tightness across the back at the bra line plus sudden fatigue.

Sometimes, we just need to take a little time to reflect on the greatness of God. We need to put aside, if just for a few moments, all the negativity of this world, all of what we want God to so for us, and look at the grandeur of His work. We need to look at nature - the part we haven’t ruined yet - and marvel at how God put it all together. We need to look at ourselves and each other, and think about, out of the billions of people who have lived, are living today and who will ever live, that no two of us have been or ever will be identical. God created it all and it all, including us, belong to Him. In the midst of our everyday issues and problems, we need to think about this to keep it all in perspective.

We who are followers of Christ should be in prayer continuously. We should not only pray during bad times, or at times we need something. We should also be in the habit of praying during good times as well. There should be times we are praying simply to thank God for what He has already done, and to praise Him for who He is. We should pray not only about the big decisions in our lives, but for the little ones as well. We should always pray in the Spirit, for this prevents our prayers from becoming to-do lists of things we want God to do. When we pray in the Spirit, we are able to pray for our enemies as well as our loved ones. We are able to listen to what God has to say to us as well as what we have to say to Him. Lastly, prayer is not a three-way discussion, even when we are praying in community with others. It is not a time to switch who we are talking to and address the enemy (“Satan, I bind you in the name of Jesus”(?)”….if we are addressing Almighty God, why are we including Satan in the conversation? That diminishes the sacredness of the time we have exclusively set aside to communicate with our Lord.

Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.It is not fashionable in today’s society to talk about being saved. However, the helmet of salvation means that we live differently and that we know exactly where we will spend eternity when this life is over. This knowledge allows us to stand firm against anything the enemy throws at us. The sword of the Word is the only offensive weapon in the Armor of God and is the only offensive weapon we need. We stand firm because we are standing on the promises of God contained in the Word of God.

Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.It is impossible to please God, and to stand firm against evil without faith. We all have faith in something or someone but in this context we are specifically talking about faith in God. We are talking about faith in His existence and in His promises. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil.We are not instructed to put on the whole armor of God so we can go into battle and fight. We are instructed to put on the whole armor of God to go into battle and stand firm. We stand firm with truth. That is especially important inthe world we live in today, where the truth is increasingly twisted and many times outright ignored. When we stand firm in truth, the peace of God, which passes all understanding, allow us to continue to stand firm in the midst of the most fierce battle we may find ourselves in. Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared.We need the whole armor of God - the belt of truth, the breatplate of righteousness, shoes of peace, shield of faith, helmet of salvation and the sword of the Word. Too often, we head into battle partially suited up. That helmet doesn’t look good on me, or those shoes don’t match what I’m wearing. Christians, a football player would not take the field without wesring all of his protective gear, and neither should we.
